Our History

Dalayna and her Aunt Desta were talking about how COVID-19 was affecting kids in other countries. Desta reached out to Tiffany, her friend in Italy who is an English teacher, and together we were able to get around 50 teens on our first Zoom call. After that, we continued to do the calls and we kept growing!

Prolem Statement: Around the world there is a broken system of teaching students about their role in global welfare. This leaves kids with prejudice, apathy, and without critical thinking. Another problem is that the educational resources there are for schools to teach about social justice and global citizenship are congregated in richer schools, and is an example of educational inequality.

Action Statement: The purpose of our programs is to create a safe environment to bridge the educational activism gap. We join teens around the world on Zoom calls to have meaningful discussions, and to learn about new perspectives and social justice issues. We are committed to making our calls more inclusive by using basic English and working to give access to areas without reliable internet. Overall, the goal of Teens Connect Global is to shape the next generation to be able to change the world for the better.
